LOX and LIN Air Separation Plant Main Components
Air pretreatment system: including air filter, used to remove dust, impurities, etc. in the air; air compressor, compresses the air to the required pressure; precooler, preliminarily cools the compressed air.
Purification system: usually uses molecular sieve adsorber to deeply remove impurities such as moisture, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, etc. in the air to prevent them from freezing or clogging pipelines at low temperatures.
Refrigeration system: such as turbine expander, which reduces the air temperature and liquefies it through gas expansion refrigeration; throttle valve, which produces refrigeration effect through throttling expansion.
Distillation system: composed of high-pressure distillation tower and low-pressure distillation tower, it is the core equipment for separating liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen, and realizes the separation of oxygen and nitrogen through multiple evaporation and condensation.
Liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen storage and transportation system: including liquid oxygen storage tank and liquid nitrogen storage tank, used to store products; vaporizer, vaporizes liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen into gaseous state; pumps and pipelines, used to transport liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen.




LOX and LIN Air Separation Plant Process Flow
Air compression and purification: After being filtered by an air filter, the air is compressed by an air compressor and then enters the purification system to remove impurities.
Cooling and liquefaction: The purified air enters the heat exchanger, exchanges heat with the refluxed cryogenic gas, is cooled to a temperature close to the liquefaction temperature, and is further cooled and liquefied by equipment such as a throttle valve or a turbine expander.
Distillation separation: The liquefied air enters the distillation tower and undergoes distillation separation in the tower. In the lower tower, the air is initially separated into oxygen-rich liquid air and liquid nitrogen; the oxygen-rich liquid air enters the upper tower for further distillation, and liquid oxygen is obtained at the bottom of the upper tower and nitrogen is obtained at the top. After condensation, part of it is used as a liquid nitrogen product, and part of it is refluxed to the lower tower.
Product storage and transportation: The produced liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen are transported to liquid oxygen storage tanks and liquid nitrogen storage tanks for storage, respectively. As needed, the liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen are transported to the user end through pumps and pipelines.
