Generation of Carbon Dioxide

The sources of CO2 are very wide, and can be roughly divided into the following emission sources.

1) Emissions from hydrogen production in chemical plants. Refineries and fertilizer plants require H2 for production. Usually, H2 is converted from methane, carbon monoxide, carbon and other substances after fusion with water vapor. CO2 and H2 are generated during the conversion process, of which about 15% is CO2. Most of the generated CO2 is directly discharged into the atmosphere in the form of tail gas.

2) Emissions from ore decomposition. Calcium oxide is used in the production of soda ash, paint and steelmaking, and is usually obtained by heating limestone for decomposition; magnesium oxide is used in the production of refractory bricks and magnesia bricks. Magnesium oxide is almost derived from heating magnesium ore, and these heating decomposition processes will have a large amount of CO2 discharged.

3) Oil and gas fields. When mining natural gas and oil, mixed oilfield gas containing CO2 gas is often encountered, and the content is generally high, at least 20% and up to 99%.

4) Food, biochemical and pharmaceutical industries. In the production of beer and liquor using fermentation to produce alcohol, a large amount of CO2 gas is generated, with a content of up to 90%~98%, which is a relatively high-concentration CO2 gas source.
